The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for assuring the transportation team is well trained and the vehicles are well maintained so that the team is able to provide safe, comfortable and timely transportation for residents of Friendship Living, as well as to assist with resident activities as directed.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m. Weekends on occasion.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily transportation schedules and transportation requests
  • Develop and maintain driver schedules based on transportation needs and staffing requirements
  • Involved with interviewing, hiring, training and performance evaluations for drivers.
  • Monitors and schedules vehicle maintenance
  • Monitors daily mileage and passenger logs for each vehicle.
  • Transport residents using the Friendship bus or taxi’s
  • Assists residents with entering and exiting the vehicle in a safe manner
  • Adhere to scheduled pick up and drop off times; anticipates travel times to accommodate schedules
  • Examine vehicles for cleanliness; remove any trash and clean car handles with anti-bacterial wipes after each transport
  • Adhere to vehicle maintenance standards; examine vehicles regularly and reports any maintenance or safety issues to Director immediately
  • Received and respond to inquiries in a courteous, professional and timely manner
  • Process invoices and other administrative paperwork as assigned
  • Assists with resident activities as directed

 

Essential Functions:

  • Supervises the transportation team and fleet of vehicles
  • Maintain reliable transportation services for residents
  • Provide assistance to residents while entering or exiting the vehicle
  • Ensure resident safety at all times by adhering to facility policies and procedures as well as traffic laws

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects or controls; and reach with hands and arms and legs and feet. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend and walk.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift or move objects weighing 50 pounds

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid Driver’s License in the state of Virginia
  • Commercial Driver’s License, valid in the state of Virginia
