You will work within a multidisciplinary engineering team to design, build and maintain scalable server‑side systems and APIs. The role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, pragmatic problem solving and an emphasis on observability, reliability and performance. You will collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers and DevOps to deliver well‑tested features that meet user and business needs.
Design, implement and maintain backend services, APIs and data models using modern server‑side technologies.
Write clean, testable and well‑documented code; participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices.
Collaborate with frontend and product teams to define technical requirements, API contracts and integration approaches.
Ensure reliability and performance through monitoring, profiling and optimisation; respond to incidents and support post‑mortems.
Design and operate data storage solutions, including relational databases, NoSQL stores and caching layers.
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automation and infrastructure as code to improve deployment velocity and stability.
Mentor colleagues, share knowledge and help shape technical direction and engineering standards.
Proven experience building backend systems in a professional environment using languages such as Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, or Node.js.
Solid understanding of RESTful and/or GraphQL API design, authentication and versioning strategies.
Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and familiarity with NoSQL stores and caching (Redis, DynamoDB, etc.).
Practical knowledge of distributed systems concepts: scaling, consistency, fault tolerance and messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar).
Competence in testing strategies (unit, integration, contract tests) and automated test frameworks.
Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation) is desirable.
Strong communication skills, collaborative mindset and experience working in cross‑functional teams.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and serverless architectures.
Background in observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) and distributed tracing.
Familiarity with performance testing, load testing and capacity planning.
Previous experience working on consumer‑facing products at scale or real‑time systems.
A collaborative and inclusive culture that values creativity, curiosity and healthy risk‑taking.
Opportunities to shape technical direction and influence high‑impact products.
Competitive salary, flexible working arrangements and professional development support.
