This is a wonderful opportunity with a company who want to invest and provide the successful candidate with a career in finance.

Due to continued growth, my client is looking to add a Finance Officer to their team. The individual will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the financial function. This role is integral to the business and you will ideally come with a strong bookkeeping background.

The Role

  • To be accountable for, the day-to-day financial management;
  • To prepare high-quality business reports to support stakeholder understanding and decision making;
  • To assess, evaluate and implement management accounting systems for planning, measuring, controlling and monitoring business performance;
  • To comply with all tax regulations, communicating with relevant authorities to establish and ethically manage tax liabilities for individuals and the company;
  • To produce annual accounts to trial balance level prior to the preparation of financial statements and corporation tax computations by external accountants;
  • To input and manage the general ledger - journals, accruals, pre-payments, fixed assets and stock management;
  • To undertake credit control, debtor ledger and debt recovery on an ongoing basis;
  • To carry out payroll and salary journal input such as pension deductions, commission, overtime, holidays and expense claims and management of statutory payments to HMRC (PAYE /NI/RTI etc);
  • To work external providers, or independently to ensure that the company is compliant with the requirements of auto enrolment;
  • To manage the sales ledger including the processing of client payments/accounts receivable on an ongoing basis;
  • To manage the purchase ledger and accounts payable including the processing of supplier payments, credit notes etc;
  • To undertake bank and credit card reconciliations on an agreed daily/weekly/monthly schedule;
  • To produce monthly and YTD budget vs actual summaries and prior periods;
  • To prepare and pay quarterly VAT/Tax returns;
  • To track staff holiday usage and accrual;
  • To manage petty cash;
  • To adhere to and comply with all policies, procedures and statutory requirements;
  • To produce standing monthly and ad hoc reports to required standards covering multiple financial and functional aspects of the business;

The Person

  • Strong background in a financial environment.
  • Ideally you will be educated to a degree level or equivalent, but this is not essential.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to manage supplier relationships effectively
  • Familiarity with accounting software and strong MS Excel skills
  • Keen attention to detail
